\ HOW TO OBTAIN RED BOX TONES \

Okay. First, the basics, for the people who don't know what Red Box tones
are. A Red Box is a device that generates Quarter, Dime and Nickle tones,
so the operator thinks that coins have been dropped in the slots. For a
Quarter there are 5 beeps that are outpulsed at 12-17 pulses, for the dime
there are 2 beeps that are outpulsed at 5-8.5 PPS and for a nickle one beep
outpulsed the same as a dime. Now each beep consists of 2 tones which are
2200hz and 1700hz. Below is a way to get these tones without having to
actually build a Red Box.

Materials needed:
________ ________ )-:->> Trusted friend (HA HA HA....AHHHH.......)
| )-:->> Micro cassette recorder (preferably)
)-:->> Telefone pickup from your local Radio Shack
Now go down to the fortress fones. Do it at night, as it's not advisable
to do in the day-time when people can see you.
Look for two fortress fone booths connected together. This will make the
job a lot easier if you are alone. Now, connect the telefone pickup to the
receiver of the handset of one of the telefones. (And don't forget to
connect it to your cassette recorder). You might have to tape the telefone
pick-up to the receiver.
Now put the fone on hook and go to the neighbouring fone booth. From here
make a telefone call to the first booth.

Leave your handset hanging and quickly go to the other fone booth where the
telefone pickup is hooked up. Press the recording button. Then pick up the
handset and LEAVE IT OFF HOOK (remember the recording is still going on).
Now go to the second telefone booth where you made the call, drop a couple of
quarters, dimes and nickles.
You are done!!!!!!! When you play back the cassette you will hear the tones
of the coins you put in.
This procedures may also work from home, whereby you'll have the telefone
pick-up connected at home, and someone calls you and drops in the coins.

2600 HZ - USED TO GET ON/OFF TRUNK
TONE MATRIX TO USE AFTER 2600 HZ.
700: 1 : 2 : 4 : 7 : 11 :
900: + : 3 : 5 : 8 : 12 :
1100: + : + : 6 : 9 : KP :
1300: + : + : + : 10 : KP2 :
1500: + : + : + : + : ST :
900 :1100 :1300 :1500 : 1700 :
USE KP (1700+1100) TO START A CALL AND
ST (1500+1700) TO STOP.
USE 2600 HZ TO DISCONNECT.

A NICKEL IS 66 MS ON (1 BEEP). A DIME
IS 66MS ON, 66MS OFF, 66MS ON (2 BEEPS)
A QUARTER IS 33MS ON, 33MS OFF REPEATED
5 TIMES. (MS = MILLISECOND). FOR THOSE
OF YOU WHO DONT KNOW, A RED BOX
SIMULATES MONEY BEING PUT INTO A PAY
PHONE. YOU MUST PUT IN SOME MONEY FIRST
THOUGH (THE OPERATOR CAN TELL IF MONEY
WAS PUT IN BUT AS TO HOW MUCH, SHE LETS
THE COMPUTER ANSWER THAT. (YEAH FOR THE
COMPUTER))

TASI LOCKING FREQ:
TASI (TIME ASSIGNMENT SPEECH
INTERPOLATION) IS USED ON SATELITE
TRUNKS, AND BASICALLY ALLOWS MORE THAN
ONE PERSON TO USE A TRUNK BY PUTTING
THEM ON WHILE THE OTHER PERSON ISNT
TALKING. OF COURSE, YOU'D NEVER HEAR
THE OTHER PERSON TALKING ON YOUR TRUNK.
WHEN YOU START TO TALK, HOWEVER, THE
TASI CONTROLLER HAS TO FIND AN OPEN
TRUNK FOR YOU. BECAUSE OF THIS, SOME OF
YOUR SPEECH IS LOST( BECAUSE OF THE
DELAY IN FINDING A TRUNK) THIS IS
CALLED CLIPPING.
WELL, IF YOU WERE TRANSMITTING DATA
OVER A TRUNK, CLIPPING WOULD REALLY
FUCK UP THE DATA. SO THERE IS SOMETHING
CALLED A TASI LOCKING FREQUENCY WHICH
KEEPS THE TASI FROM PUTTING ANYONE ELSE
ON YOUR TRUNK OR YOU ON ANYONE ELSES
TRUNK. IN ANY CASE THE FREQ. IS 1850
HZ. SENT BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION).
